Hand feeding Formula is easily digested
by baby finches (as well as other baby birds). I keep it on hand in case
a situation arises in which I have to hand feed a baby finch.
Trick I learned: Disclaimer: I am not a
expert. This was simply a trick I learned from a more knowledgeable
friend. She taught me that whenever a pair of birds has babies, I
should start adding hand feed formula to the seed mix I gave to the
parents. I would dampen the seed and then mix it with the powdered hand feeding
formula. The powder would cling to the wet seed and the feeding parent
would ingest at least some portion of the formula while consuming
the seed. It appeared to me that this added the stressed parents in
providing easily digestible food to the hatchlings. The parents never,
in my experience, simply eat hand feed powder out of a feed cup.
