Calcium

Calcium is an especially critical supplement  for female finches during egg laying. The calcium used by the hens body to produce the egg shell can deplete the hen of calcium.

This is especially true for Gouldian hens, which in my experience, have a tendency to become "eggbound", a potentially deadly problem.

CUTTLEBONES

CUTTLEBONES ARE A natural source of calcium and minerals

  • The Cuttlebone is just that, a bone, from the cuttle fish. The metal clip, shown above, clips the Cuttlebone to the bars of the cage.

ALSO, GOOD FOR BEAK HEALTH

  • In addition to calcium and other minerals, the cuttlebone also help keep your pet's beak sharpened. This is something that occurs naturally in the wild, but not in captivity.
